NH Tattersalls Derby Horse Sale Review Day 1

 

Horse Sale Review from Tattersalls with the main horses, buyers and sellers. 

 

Day 1 Horses 

  • The top lot was a three-year-old son of Flemensfirth sold by Goldford Stud on behalf of Swanbridge Bloodstock for €175,000. He is a half-brother to the Listed-winning and Gr.2 placed novice hurdler Folsom Blue. He is out of the high class Spirit Leader, who won Gr.3 County Hurdle, the Gr.3 Tote Gold Trophy and the Listed William Hill Handicap Hurdle in the same year. Trainer Conor O’Dwyer was the eventual buyer.
  • A daughter of Robin Des Champs from Abbey Stables was bought for €160,000 by trainer Ian Ferguson. She is a half-sister to the useful Tropical Three and is out of an unraced Anshanhalf-sister to the high-class hurdler Tropical Lake, who produced the Gr.2 Royal Whip Stakes winner Tropical Lady. 
  • Goldford Stud sold a son of Presenting on behalf of Richard Haggas to M V Magnier for €160,000 and is the first produce of Theatre Girl who was a Gr.2 placed hurdler.
  • M V Magnier also bought a son of High Chaparral for €110,000 from Castletown Quarry Stud. He is closely related to the four-time winner Tasitiocht and are both out of an unraced half-sister to the Champion Hurdle winning brothers Granville Again and Morley Street.
  • Aiden Murphy paid €160,000 for a Flemensfirth gelding out of a Trempolino half-sister to two Listed-winning French jumpers - Georgia On My Mind and Change Partner. He was sold by Ballincurrig House Stud.
  • Mill House Stud sold a son of Turgeon for €130,000 to Harold Kirk for Willie Mullins. He is a half-brother to three winners, including a Listed-winning French jumper called Alpha Speed.
  • Anthony Bromley bought a three-year-old son of Flemensfirth for €100,000 from Stow Stud for trainer Paul Nicholls. He is a full-brother to recent bumper winner, Father Edward on his debut.
  • Shanaville Stables sold a son of Flemensfirth for €100,000 to Margaret O’Toole for an Irish client. He is out of the two-time winner Shuil A Hocht, who is a half-sister to the The Outlier, a Gr.2 Chase winner.
  • A son of King’s Theatre was bought by M.V. Magnier for €90,000 from Landscape Stud. He is half-brother to a dual point-to-point winner and is from the family of top staying chaser Life Of A Lord, who was trained by  Aidan O’Brien and he won a Kerry National, two Galway Plates and the Whitbread Gold Cup.
  • Aidan Kennedy paid €90,000 for a son of King’s Theatre from Goldford Stud. He is a half-brother to Gr.3-placed, Delphi Mountain, and is out of a Gr.3-placed daughter of Foxhound.
  • Nicky Henderson bought a Mahler gelding for €90,000 from Ballincurrig House Stud. He is out of a full-sister to the multiple Gr.1 winning chaser Tidal Bay.
  • Coolnagour House Stud sold a Mahler gelding to Aiden Murphy for €80,000.

 

  • For the horses-in-training, Harold Kirk went to €100,000 for Rathvinden who won a Downpatrick bumper recently and was trained by Ian Ferguson. He will now be trained by Willie Mullins.
  • John Nallen sold Minella Present to Grant Lewis for €100,000. The four-year-old was placed in a bumper on his racecourse debut recently.
  • Dan Skelton bought Fairyhouse bumper winner Storm Of Swords for €90,000. The Beneficial five-year-old is related to the Paddy Power Chase winner Calling Wild. 
  • The five-year-old King’s Theatre mare, Stephanie Frances, who won a bumper at Punchestown was also bought by Dan Skelton for €50,000.
  • Tom Malone bought Nathans Pride for €82,000 from Peter Fahey. He is dual bumper winner who won a winner’s bumper recently.
